Who is Red?

Red Allen came to the Wigwam from Hopkins, Minnesota in 1935 to be head golf professional for the new Wigwam Country Club. As the Wigwam grew into a year round resort, he stayed throughout the summer and served as Director of Golf until 1976, building the legacy of the Allen family.
Red's son Douglas was Director of Golf at The Wigwam from 1976-1987, and all this time, young Craig Allen was helping his grandfather Red with player services and as a caddy. Craig started as Head Golf Pro in 1982 and became Director of Golf in 2001, a position he still holds today.
Red's Steakhouse joins two established restaurants at The Wigwam - the AAA Four Diamond-rated Arizona Kitchen, featuring contemporary Southwestern dishes, and Grille on the Greens for casual, country club fare. Other flavorful dining options range from opulent Holiday Champagne Brunches in the ballroom, to light and refreshing fare at the Pool Cabana.
